Ford Maverick Subwoofer and Amplifier: Base vs B&O

BASE AND B&O NEED DIFFERENT SIGNAL PLANS; KEEP HYBRID AMPLIFIER DEMAND MODEST

High confidence · Last verified 27 Oct 2026

A compact powered subwoofer can work with the Maverick factory radio, but identify base versus B&O audio and model year before choosing the interface. B&O uses a factory amplified A2B system, with different PAC interfaces for earlier and 2025+ applications. Crutchfield recommends that Hybrid systems stay at or below 30 amps of current draw and 350 watts RMS.

Base audio and B&O are not interchangeable installation recipes. A base system may accept a properly configured speaker-level input or vehicle-specific T-harness. The amplified B&O system uses digital communication with a factory amplifier, so tapping an arbitrary speaker pair can produce equalization, level or integration problems.

PAC's AP4-FD31 supports documented 2022 Maverick B&O applications and replaces/unplugs the factory amplifier while retaining functions through its interface. PAC's AP4-FD32 is the corresponding current platform for select 2025+ Ford B&O A2B vehicles. Confirm the Maverick and year in PAC's current application list before ordering either.

Crutchfield warns against using a test light on Hybrid wiring and recommends a multimeter. It also advises limiting a Hybrid audio build to 30 amps and 350 watts RMS. Treat those figures as a system-planning ceiling, not permission to ignore cable gauge, fuse placement, grounding or the amplifier manufacturer's requirements.

Before buying an enclosure, measure the intended location with the rear seat in both service and normal positions. Preserve seat latches, vents, factory modules, under-seat storage and access to the 12V battery where applicable. A shallow powered sub is often a better Maverick fit than a large enclosure that compromises these functions.

Bottom line

Choose the integration path first and the subwoofer second. Base audio can use a simpler supported signal path; B&O needs year-correct A2B integration. On a Hybrid, favor efficiency and a compact system over headline amplifier power.

If door speakers are also changing, start with the Maverick base versus B&O speaker guide.
