BAK Revolver X4s vs RetraxONE XR for Ford Maverick

· 2 min read

Generic hard roll-up and retractable tonneau systems compared on Ford Maverick beds

CHOOSE REVOLVER X4S FOR BED VOLUME; CHOOSE RETRAXONE XR FOR BUILT-IN T-SLOTS AND POSITIONABLE ONE-HAND OPERATION

High confidence for the compared product families; verify the exact Maverick SKU · Last verified 27 Oct 2026

The X4s rolls above the bed and publishes a 400-lb evenly distributed limit. RetraxONE XR retracts into a front canister, includes T-slot rails and publishes a 200-lb evenly distributed limit.

If a rack is required, compare the rack-ready X4 TS—not the standard X4s—against RetraxONE XR.

These covers solve the same security problem with different packaging. The BAK Revolver X4s uses interlocking aluminum slats that roll toward the cab and strap open. RetraxONE XR slides on bearings into a canister at the front of the bed and can key-lock in any position.

The Retrax rail makes it the cleaner starting point for compatible crossbars or a bed rack, but “T-slot” is not a universal load approval. Check the rack maker's adapter, allowed rail, dynamic load and off-road reduction. The X4s preserves more of the Maverick's already-short bed. If you want that packaging plus T-slots, the X4 TS is the closer BAK comparison.

Both products are clamp-on systems and both depend on correct rail alignment, bulkhead sealing and drain or water-management details. Treat water resistance as installation-dependent, not a promise that the bed becomes a sealed trunk.

Bottom line

Buy the X4s when the short bed must stay usable. Buy RetraxONE XR when smooth partial opening and an integrated rack channel justify the canister.

If a rack is already selected, use Yakima OverHaul With Retrax XR on a Ford Maverick to check the adapter path.
