Hub-Centric Rings vs Wheel Spacers for Ford Maverick

HUB RINGS CENTER A LARGER WHEEL BORE; SPACERS MOVE THE WHEEL OUTWARD

High confidence · Last verified 27 Oct 2026

A hub-centric ring fills the gap between an aftermarket wheel’s larger center bore and the Maverick hub to aid centering. A spacer changes wheel position and effective offset. Neither corrects the wrong bolt pattern, lug seat, wheel load rating or inadequate brake clearance.

These products are often sold together, but they do different jobs. A ring is thin and concentric; a spacer adds thickness between the wheel and hub.

Tire Rack explains that center-bore geometry locates the wheel around the hub; some aftermarket wheels use rings to serve multiple vehicle bores. The lug hardware still provides clamping force and must match the wheel’s seat type.

A spacer increases outward position and can reduce fender clearance while changing loads on studs and bearings. H&R’s instructions require clean mating surfaces, correct centering, adequate thread engagement and specified torque procedures. Never stack spacers or use one to disguise an incorrect wheel purchase.

After any wheel-interface change, check brake, strut and fender clearance at steering lock and through suspension travel. Investigate vibration immediately rather than repeatedly retorquing an incompatible setup.

Bottom line

Use the correct hub ring when a suitable wheel has a larger center bore. Use spacers only as engineered fitment hardware for a measured need—not as a universal cure.

Verify the base wheel first with the Maverick bolt-pattern, bore and offset guide.
