235/65R17 IS THE LOWER-RISK STOCK-SUSPENSION CHOICE; 245/65R17 NEEDS AN EXACT WHEEL-AND-TIRE CLEARANCE CHECK

Ford lists 235/65R17 for the 2025 Tremor and 225/65R17 on other factory configurations. A 245/65R17 is about 0.5 inch taller and 0.4 inch wider than 235/65R17, so brand dimensions, wheel width and offset can turn a common setup into a rub.

There is no universal “fits every stock Maverick” approval for 245/65R17.

Nominal size math helps but does not prove fit. A 235/65R17 calculates to about 29.0 inches tall; a 245/65R17 to about 29.5 inches. Actual section width and diameter vary by tire model and approved rim width.

Rough Country documents 245/65R17 with specified 17x7.5 +35 or 17x8 +38 wheels for its one-inch leveling kit, while also warning that manufacturing differences require test fitting. That is evidence for those documented combinations with that kit—not proof for every stock wheel, tire or Maverick trim.

Before ordering, compare the tire maker's measured diameter and section width on your wheel width. Then check front strut clearance, pinch-weld/liner clearance, full-lock clearance in both directions and loaded compression. Recheck speed display and driver-assistance behavior after a meaningful diameter change.

Bottom line

Choose 235/65R17 when you want a Ford-listed size with less clearance uncertainty. Choose 245/65R17 only after validating the exact tire and wheel—not from the sidewall code alone.
