CONDITIONAL—VERIFY THE EXACT ESCAPE WHEEL PART NUMBER

Do not approve an Escape wheel from year and diameter alone. It must match the Maverick's bolt pattern, center bore, offset range, width, load capacity and lug-seat design, while clearing the brakes and suspension.

Use the casting or Ford part number to obtain a complete specification.

Two OEM Ford wheels can both be 17 inches and still be incompatible. A different offset moves the tire inboard or outboard; a different center bore may stop the wheel from seating; and the wrong lug-seat profile can produce false torque even when the nuts thread on.

Ford instructs owners to use the original wheel and tire size or an approved alternative and specifically warns not to install alloy wheels with wheel nuts intended for steel wheels. That matters when an XL owner moves from steel wheels to donor alloys.

Safe verification

Have a wheel specialist cross-reference the exact Ford engineering/service part number. Confirm the wheel is undamaged and not repaired, then use the correct nuts and torque procedure. With the truck safely raised, rotate the mounted assembly and inspect clearance at full steering lock before driving. Recheck torque after the installer-specified bedding interval.

Bottom line

Some Escape wheels may be dimensionally usable, but “2021 Escape” is not a fitment specification. Buy only after the exact wheel record and physical clearances agree.
