TruXedo TruXport vs Lo Pro for a 2024–2026 Tacoma

TRUXPORT IS THE VALUE PATH; LO PRO IS THE LOWER-PROFILE PATH

High confidence for current 2024–2026 Tacoma applications · Last verified 15 Oct 2026

Choose TruXport GEN 2 for a straightforward above-rail soft roll-up cover with automatic tension, dual-side cable release and a five-year warranty. Choose Lo Pro for rails mounted inside the bed, a 3/4-inch-above-rail profile, one-finger latch, tool-free cover removal and a limited lifetime warranty. Both require the exact five-foot or 6-foot-2-inch Tacoma SKU and the Deck Rail System.

Fitment comes before the feature list

RealTruck currently documents four separate applications for the 2024–2026 Tacoma:

  • five-foot bed: TruXport 256101 or Lo Pro 556101;
  • 6-foot-2-inch bed: TruXport 257101 or Lo Pro 557101.

All four product pages say installation requires the Deck Rail System. Do not order from a generic “fits Tacoma” listing or assume that a short-bed cover will stretch to the long bed.

Also check every rack, toolbox, divider, storage box and tie-down that uses the bed rail. A correct cover-to-truck application does not prove two accessories can occupy the same clamp or channel space.

What TruXport GEN 2 gives you

The current TruXport GEN 2 is the value-oriented, above-rail option. Its factory-calibrated SureTension system keeps the vinyl taut without routine manual tension changes. RTxGrip hook-and-loop closure works with an automatic slam latch, while built-in supports reduce sag and water pooling.

The pull cable can be reached from either side of the tailgate. The cover rolls toward the cab and secures with integrated straps for full bed access. RealTruck specifies a one-person clamp-on installation in under 30 minutes and a five-year warranty.

Choose TruXport when the slightly taller rail profile is acceptable and the goal is the simpler soft roll-up function at the lower product tier.

What the Lo Pro upgrade changes

The Lo Pro's rails mount inside the bed rather than on top. RealTruck states that it sits only 3/4 inch above the bed rails, which is the clearest reason to choose it.

Its patented self-adjusting spring tensioner works with floating hook-and-loop to keep the vinyl tight through temperature changes. A one-finger trigger latch opens the cover, and the tool-free quick-release system lets you remove it completely when the rolled bundle or rails would interfere with a load. The warranty is limited lifetime.

Choose Lo Pro when the lower visual profile, quick removal and longer warranty matter more than minimizing purchase cost.

What neither cover solves

Both are vinyl soft roll-up covers. They can shield cargo from ordinary weather and casual view, but neither manufacturer listing makes the bed waterproof. Water can still enter around seals, tailgate gaps, drain paths or an imperfect installation.

A locked tailgate blocks the normal latch access, but soft vinyl is not equivalent to an aluminum hard cover for cut resistance. If high-value cargo security or rated top loading is the priority, compare hard-fold, hard-roll or retractable systems instead.

Neither product page approves universal rack compatibility. If a rack or rooftop tent is planned, select a documented rack-and-cover combination before buying either cover.

Installation checks

Before final tightening:

  1. verify model year, measured bed length and exact part number;
  2. confirm the Deck Rail System and Tacoma-specific clamp hardware;
  3. test that rails are parallel and the tailgate closes without forcing the seal;
  4. confirm the latch engages on both sides and the vinyl rolls straight;
  5. secure the rolled cover with both straps before driving; and
  6. water-test gently, then correct rail or seal alignment instead of calling the bed waterproof.

Use the full Tacoma tonneau-cover installation checklist before combining the cover with other bed accessories.

Which should you buy?

  • Buy TruXport GEN 2 if you want the core soft roll-up function, automatic tension and five-year warranty and accept an above-rail profile.
  • Buy Lo Pro if a 3/4-inch profile, inside-rail mounting, tool-free removal and limited lifetime warranty justify the upgrade.
  • Buy neither yet if bed length, Deck Rail System or rack/toolbox compatibility is unconfirmed.

Bottom line

TruXport GEN 2 is the sensible value choice; Lo Pro is the cleaner low-profile choice. The decision is not just price: it is above-rail versus inside-rail mounting, standard roll-up removal versus quick release, and five-year versus limited lifetime warranty. In either case, bed length and the Deck Rail System decide whether the part fits.
