CHOOSE THE SYSTEM AROUND THE BUMPER
Choose Cali Raised CR4337 when the lowest published bumper-only weight, included powder coat and a 32-inch light opening matter—and accept its separate winch tray. Choose C4 1224-10300 for an integrated 8,000–12,000-pound-class winch path and defined Baja Designs S2 pockets. Choose CBI Covert for an integrated up-to-10,000-pound winch path, a 20-inch light opening and factory-fog retention. All three require plastic trimming; verify the exact camera/radar/sensors and skid package before cutting.
Quick comparison
| Product | Published bumper weight | Winch path | Lighting path | Trailhunter / finish note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cali Raised Stealth CR4337 | 45 lb | Separate CR4338 tray required | Integrated 32-in light-bar opening | Factory Trailhunter skid plates must be removed; black powder coat included |
| C4 Lo-Pro 1224-10300 | 74 lb | Integrated plate; most 8k–12k non-integrated-control-pack winches | Pair of Baja Designs S2 fogs | Trailhunter front skid requires trimming; raw or optional powder coat |
| CBI Covert | 85 lb before winch/light | Integrated; most winches up to 10k, non-integrated solenoid recommended | 20-in single-row opening; factory fogs retained | Confirm exact skid application; product is steel |
These are not three interchangeable shells. The winch tray, light packaging, finish, skid treatment and sensor wording differ enough to change the best choice.
Cali Raised Stealth: lightest published bumper-only starting point
Cali Raised lists its CR4337 Stealth at 45 pounds, with a 3/16-inch steel faceplate, dual 3/4-inch recovery points welded to the frame mounts, an integrated 32-inch light-bar opening and black powder coat.
The important architecture difference is the winch. CR4337 is winch-ready only when paired with Cali Raised's separate CR4338 winch tray. Add the tray, winch, fairlead, lights and hardware before comparing installed weight with an integrated competitor. The 45-pound headline is the bumper alone.
Cali Raised says the bumper is compatible with Toyota Safety Sense and requires slight factory-bumper trimming. Its Trailhunter language is specific: the product does not fit with the factory Trailhunter skid plates left in place, but can fit when those plates are removed. The page says it works with the TRD Pro skid.
Choose it when a lighter bumper shell, included finish and long light-bar opening outweigh the extra tray decision.
C4 Lo-Pro: integrated winch plate with a defined equipment path
C4 lists the 1224-10300 Lo-Pro at 74 pounds. Its structure combines an 11-gauge shell with a 3/16-inch winch plate/mount and dual 3/4-inch recovery tabs.
The integrated plate accepts most 8,000–12,000-pound winches without an integrated control pack; C4 specifically confirms Warn Evo 10-S and 12-S and recommends synthetic line with a hawse fairlead. “Most” is not universal—compare the exact winch dimensions, clutch access and control-pack location before ordering.
The light pockets are designed for a pair of Baja Designs S2 lights. C4 says other brands are not guaranteed. It also says the bumper retains full OEM sensors and safety systems, but that maker statement still needs to be matched to the exact truck's camera, radar and parking-sensor equipment.
Center plastic must be cut. A Trailhunter's front skid must also be trimmed. Raw steel needs coating promptly unless the powder-coat option is ordered.
Choose C4 when an integrated, documented 8k–12k winch path and the S2 lighting layout match the build.
CBI Covert: integrated 10k-class mount plus factory-fog retention
CBI lists the Covert at 85 pounds before a winch or light. The steel bumper has a gusseted integrated winch mount for most winches up to 10,000 pounds; CBI recommends a non-integrated solenoid/control arrangement. It also includes integrated D-rings, a 20-inch single-row light-bar provision and retains the factory fog lights, with an optional path for aftermarket six-inch lights.
CBI says the design retains factory sensors and mounts directly to the frame. Cutting/trimming factory plastic is still required. As with the other two products, treat the sensor statement as the manufacturer's published scope—not proof that every camera, radar, sonar, trim and calibration condition is identical.
Choose CBI when factory-fog retention and its integrated light/winch layout are more important than minimizing bumper-only weight.
Sensor claims are not equivalent
The pages use different language:
- Cali Raised explicitly says Toyota Safety Sense compatible.
- C4 says it retains full OEM sensors and safety systems.
- CBI says it retains factory sensors.
Do not silently upgrade any one phrase into all-camera, all-radar and all-parking-sensor approval. Inventory the exact truck before purchase: center/front camera, millimeter-wave radar, parking sensors, wiring, washer hardware and any calibration procedure.
Use our fourth-gen bumper sensor guide to translate the claims, then obtain written confirmation for the VIN/trim and exact bumper configuration.
Compare complete installed weight
The front of the truck carries more than the bumper:
Installed front system = bumper + separate tray if required + winch + fairlead + lights + brackets + hardware.
That total consumes payload and adds load near the front axle. It can affect ride height, alignment, handling and suspension choice. Do not subtract the removed plastic fascia unless you have actually weighed it and know which factory pieces remain.
Run the result through the Tacoma payload-after-modifications guide before choosing springs around an incomplete parts list.
Installation gates shared by all three
All three listings require cutting or trimming factory plastic. Before irreversible work:
- confirm model year, trim, powertrain and every front camera/sensor;
- confirm Trailhunter or TRD Pro skid interaction in the current instructions;
- test-fit the bumper, brackets, winch, fairlead and lights;
- relocate/connect wiring exactly as documented;
- protect every cut edge and finish raw steel before exposure;
- torque hardware in the manufacturer's sequence; and
- check warning lights, camera view, radar/parking functions, lighting and recovery-point clearance before road use.
Our front-bumper installation checklist covers the preparation in more detail.
Which one should you buy?
- Choose Cali Raised CR4337 for the lightest published bumper shell here, included powder coat and a 32-inch light opening, provided the separate tray and skid boundaries suit the build.
- Choose C4 1224-10300 for an integrated winch plate with the broadest published winch-capacity band in this comparison and a defined Baja Designs S2 route.
- Choose CBI Covert for an integrated up-to-10k winch layout, 20-inch single-row light provision and factory-fog retention.
Let the exact winch, lights, sensors, skid package and complete installed weight veto the aesthetic preference.
Bottom line
Cali Raised is the lighter, separately-trayed system; C4 is the integrated 8k–12k/S2 system; CBI is the integrated 10k-class/factory-fog system. None is a no-cut universal fit. Verify the exact truck and full parts stack before ordering—and before the first trim cut.
