Ford introduced Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist on the refreshed 2025 Maverick, listing them as standard on Lariat and Tremor and optional on Lobo in 2025 towing information, with early-2025 availability notes. Current 2026 pages list the technologies on Lariat and Tremor. Confirm the individual VIN/window sticker because content can vary.

Pro Trailer Hitch Assist uses the rear camera and sensors to help align the hitch with a coupler while controlling steering, speed and braking. Pro Trailer Backup Assist lets the driver command the trailer’s direction while reversing. They do not connect the coupler, chains, breakaway cable or wiring and do not replace a spotter where visibility is limited.

The 4K Tow Package and Pro Trailer technologies answer different questions. The package provides hardware needed for the higher tow rating on qualifying configurations; the assists help with alignment and reversing. One does not prove the other.

Before relying on the system, set up the trailer profile as the owner’s manual directs, keep the camera and sensors clean, confirm the trailer is within all ratings, and practice in an open area. The driver remains responsible for clearance and connections.

Bottom line

Shop by VIN and window sticker, not “2025+” alone. These assists can reduce hitching and reversing workload, but they do not increase capacity or replace the physical towing checklist.

Prepare the rest of the system with the Maverick first towing trip checklist.
