Ford Maverick Hybrid vs EcoBoost for Frequent Towing

FOR 2025+, BOTH CAN BE 4K TOW VEHICLES—CONFIGURATION AND USE CASE DECIDE

High confidence on Ford ratings · Last verified 26 Oct 2026

Eligible Maverick Hybrid AWD and EcoBoost AWD configurations can each carry Ford's 4,000-lb rating with factory 4K Tow Package `53Q`. For frequent towing, compare the exact truck's payload, loaded trailer, route, fuel use and driving preference.

Do not choose from engine name or a receiver hitch alone.

Ford's 2025 towing table lists 2,000 lb without the 4K package and up to 4,000 lb for properly equipped trucks. The package adds more than a hitch: four-/seven-pin wiring, brake controller and cooling-related equipment are part of the rated configuration.

The EcoBoost publishes substantially more engine torque, which may suit repeated grades and acceleration preferences. The Hybrid offers its own efficiency and driving characteristics and, beginning in 2025, can pair AWD with 4K Tow. Neither advantage overrides payload, tongue weight, axle ratings or Ford's 40-square-foot trailer frontal-area limit for 4K configurations.

For a frequent-use camper, leave margin rather than shopping at the 4,000-lb ceiling. Compare the trailer's loaded scale weight—not dry weight—and subtract passengers, bed cargo and accessories from the truck's payload.

Bottom line

There is no automatic “tow engine” winner for a 2025+ 4K-equipped Maverick. Confirm the exact factory configuration, then choose the powertrain whose performance and fuel-use tradeoff fits the real route while every load limit remains satisfied.
