USE A MODEL-SPECIFIC POWER KIT AND KEEP EVERY CABLE CLEAR OF AIRBAGS

A two-channel Maverick dash cam can run from an accessory outlet for driving footage, but parking surveillance normally needs a compatible hardwire or OBD power cable. Use a low-voltage cutoff or dedicated dash-cam battery, confirm constant and switched circuits with a meter, and route cables behind trim without crossing the curtain-airbag deployment path.

The camera choice is only half the purchase. The power kit, rear-cable length, memory-card endurance and mounting location decide whether the system works reliably.

Power methodDriving recordingParking modeBest use
Accessory plugYesUsually noSimple removable install
Hardwire kitYesYes, if supportedClean daily-driver installation
OBD power cableYesProduct-dependentEasier reversible installation
Dash-cam batteryYesExtendedLonger parking coverage with less truck-battery draw

Parking duration varies with camera consumption, battery condition, temperature and cutoff settings. A Hybrid still has a conventional low-voltage electrical system for accessories; do not treat the traction battery as permission for unlimited parked recording.

Bottom line

Buy the camera, power strategy and installation hardware as one system. If parking mode matters, protected power and safe routing are more important than another step up in resolution.
