Which Ford Maverick Factory Tonneau Cover Works With a Bed Rack

CHOOSE EMBARK LS FOR A DOCUMENTED T-SLOT PATH

High confidence for the named Ford accessory SKUs · Last verified 26 Oct 2026

Ford's Embark LS retractable cover `VNZ6Z99501A42FB` is the rack-ready factory-accessory choice because it includes T-slot rails. The REV hard roll-up `VNZ6Z99501A42K` leaves stake pockets accessible but does not advertise integrated T-slots, and Ford's 2025 order guide says the factory hard-rollup option cannot be combined with its Yakima bed-rail crossbars.

Ford sells more than one Maverick cover, and the names are easy to blur. The REV is a hard roll-up. The Embark LS is a retractable cover with accessory tracks. They create different rack paths even though both appear in Ford's accessory catalog.

Review the REV hard roll-up listing and Embark LS T-slot listing.

If you already own the REV hard roll-up

The cover's between-rails design leaves the stake pockets accessible. That can be helpful for a rack designed to use those pockets without touching the cover clamps or rolled bundle. It is not, by itself, an approval for a particular rack.

Before buying, require the rack maker to name:

  1. Ford cover `VNZ6Z99501A42K` or the equivalent exact cover family;
  2. your Maverick model year;
  3. the rack and any stake-pocket adapter part numbers;
  4. clearance for the fully rolled cover bundle; and
  5. whether the cover can latch and seal with the rack installed.

Do not assume a T-slot adapter fits: the REV listing does not describe a T-slot rail. Ford also expressly prevents the 2025 factory hard-rollup option from being ordered with its Yakima bed-rail crossbars.

If you are buying the cover and rack now

Embark LS is the lower-ambiguity Ford-accessory route. Its rails provide the interface used by rack adapters such as Yakima Tonneau Kit 1, whose manufacturer documentation names Ford Embark LS alongside OverHaul HD and OutPost HD.

That still requires an exact-system check. Confirm the rack adapter accepts the Embark LS track, the rack fits the Maverick use case, and the lowest load limit is respected. “Has T-slots” is a necessary interface fact, not a universal fit badge.

Cover operation tradeoff

REV rolls above the bed and provides full bed access without a canister, but its rolled bundle needs clearance near the cab. Embark LS retracts into a front-bed canister, so rack uprights do not sit in the folding path, but the canister consumes bed volume.

Choose based on the loss you can tolerate:

  • prioritize maximum open-bed length and no canister: keep the REV, but locate a documented independent rack path;
  • prioritize a straightforward accessory-track interface: choose Embark LS and an approved T-slot rack adapter.

Model-year caution

The accessory pages currently list 2022–2026. Ford's restriction cited here comes from the 2025 order guide and applies to the factory option combination it names. Recheck the order guide and accessory application for your year rather than assuming every constraint is unchanged.

Bottom line

For buyers planning a rack from the start, Ford's Embark LS is the documented rack-ready cover because it provides T-slot rails. The REV hard roll-up may coexist with a separately approved stake-pocket rack, but open pockets are only geometry—not proof. For 2025 factory configurations, Ford explicitly excludes the hard-rollup cover with its Yakima bed-rail crossbars.
