Ford Maverick Camping Power: 400W Outlet vs 12V vs Power Station

· 2 min read

Ford Maverick campsite with a 400-watt bed outlet, 12-volt fridge and secured portable power station

USE 12V FOR EFFICIENT SMALL LOADS, 400W AC FOR SHORT LIGHT-DUTY USE, AND A POWER STATION FOR ENGINE-OFF RUNTIME

High confidence · Last verified 27 Oct 2026

The Maverick's 12V point is the efficient choice for a compatible fridge or charger; the factory 120V outlet is convenient for supported devices below its limit; a portable power station is best when you need stored watt-hours with the truck off. Size by both running watts and energy use—watts decide whether a device starts, watt-hours decide how long it runs.

Ford's 2026 manual states that the AC outlet can supply up to 400W in Park and may provide less in Drive; output is shared when multiple outlets are used. It also excludes some motor loads and devices needing exceptionally stable power. The 12V point is rated up to 15A/180W in the 2022 manual.

Bottom line

Use the truck outlets for modest loads while driving or parked with the vehicle operating. Buy a power station when silent engine-off runtime is the actual requirement.
