BAKFlip MX4 vs Worksport AL3 for Ford Maverick
MX4 FOR UPRIGHT FULL-BED ACCESS; AL3 FOR A REMOVABLE ALUMINUM TRI-FOLD
Both brands currently list 2022–2026 Maverick applications. The BAKFlip MX4 folds upright against the cab for near-full bed access without removing the cover. The Worksport AL3 is a three-panel aluminum cover that folds toward the cab but leaves roughly the front third covered until the assembly is removed. Choose by opening behavior first, then verify the current Maverick part before ordering.
RealTruck lists BAK part 448324 for the 2022–2026 Maverick 4-foot-4-inch bed. The current MX4 uses aluminum panels and rails, automatic latching and an upright position for full-bed access. That upright stack changes rear-window visibility and must be secured exactly as instructed.
Worksport lists the AL3 for the 2022–2026 Maverick 4-foot-5-inch bed. Its hard aluminum tri-fold uses Quick Latches on both sides, installs without drilling and folds over itself toward the cab. Worksport describes it as a two-thirds-access design; removing the folded assembly is the route to a completely open bed.

| Decision | BAKFlip MX4 | Worksport AL3 |
|---|---|---|
| Normal opening | Folds panel by panel, then upright | Folds into a stacked tri-fold |
| Full bed without removing cover | Yes, upright | No |
| Primary construction | Aluminum panels/rails with polymer cores | Aluminum hard panels |
| Latching | Automatic under-panel latches | Quick Latches on both sides |

| Rack-ready T-slot | No; use MX4 TS for integrated tracks | No documented integrated rack track |
Neither cover makes the bed completely waterproof. Install bulkhead and rail seals on clean surfaces, keep drains clear where supplied and expect some water management around the tailgate. Spray-in and bed-mat compatibility is generally easier than a drop-in liner that changes clamp surfaces, but the exact installation instructions control.
If a bed rack is planned, do not infer compatibility from “low profile.” The standard MX4 and AL3 occupy the bed-rail area. Start with an explicitly rack-ready cover or a manufacturer-approved rail kit.
Bottom line
Pick MX4 when frequent full-bed access is worth the higher-complexity upright fold. Pick AL3 when a straightforward removable hard tri-fold fits the workflow. Verify the exact part, current year coverage and return policy before opening the box.
For integrated rack tracks, compare rack-ready Maverick tonneau systems.
