Will Third-Gen Tacoma Ditch-Light Brackets Fit a Fourth-Gen?

DO NOT ASSUME THEY TRANSFER

High confidence for the named applications · Last verified 15 Oct 2026

Do not install a 2016–2023 Tacoma ditch-light bracket on a 2024+ Tacoma unless that exact bracket maker and SKU explicitly list both ranges. Cali Raised and Rough Country currently publish separate third- and fourth-generation applications. That proves a generation split for those products—not every bracket brand—so verify the exact SKU before buying or reusing one.

Why the hood-hinge location does not make the brackets interchangeable

Ditch-light brackets on both generations may sit near the hood hinge, but the shared location is not a shared interface. Bracket bend, hole position, height, pod clearance and hood-corner geometry can change with the truck.

The cleanest current example is Cali Raised. Its CR2360 bracket pair is custom-made for 2016–2023 Tacomas. Its CR4042 kit is listed for 2024+ trucks, and the manufacturer explicitly says that kit does not fit a 2023-or-older Tacoma. Both use existing factory mounting points, yet Cali Raised still separates the applications. Compare the 2016–2023 CR2360 listing with the 2024+ CR4042 listing.

Rough Country independently uses the same model-year boundary for its named kits: 71079-config for 2016–2023 and 72100-config for 2024–2026. Both are described as bolt-on kits, but they are different catalog applications and SKUs. See the 2016–2023 kit and 2024–2026 kit.

This is the practical rule: a product page that says “Tacoma hood-hinge mount” is not enough. The exact year range must include your truck.

Can the light pods transfer if the bracket cannot?

Possibly, but check them separately. A pod can be reusable when its mounting stud, hardware, body size and adjustment range match the new generation-correct bracket. That does not follow automatically from the pod being called “universal.”

For the two Cali Raised applications above, the maker describes compatibility with common 3×2 and 2×2 pods. That statement is scoped to those products. For another brand, confirm:

  • mounting-stud diameter and thread;
  • base width and bracket-slot range;
  • pod depth at the windshield, hood and cowl;
  • room to aim the beam without contact; and
  • whether the bracket maker approves that pod.

Do a slow hood-open and hood-close clearance check before energizing or aiming the lights. Do not use the generated hero illustration as a mounting diagram; the product instructions control.

Does the old harness or switch transfer?

Maybe. The bracket's mechanical fit and the lighting kit's electrical fit are different decisions.

Check the pod connector, harness current rating, fuse, relay, grounding point, wire length and switch interface. A complete fourth-generation kit may include a harness and an optional switch, while a bracket-only listing may include neither. Do not assume the contents of two similarly named kits are the same.

Route and secure wiring exactly as the light and vehicle instructions require. Keep it away from moving hood hardware, hot surfaces and sharp edges. Rough Country labels both named kits for off-road use only; other products and local laws may differ, so follow the exact light maker's use restrictions and the rules where you drive.

What else can block an otherwise correct bracket?

A year-correct bracket still needs a clear installation area. Before buying, inspect for:

  • aftermarket hood struts or hinge accessories;
  • washer hose, nozzle or wiper interference;
  • snorkel, antenna or other A-pillar hardware;
  • oversized pods that contact the hood, cowl or windshield; and
  • repaired or misaligned hood/hinge panels.

Manufacturer fitment normally assumes the factory attachment area is present and undamaged. If another accessory occupies the same fastener or sweep path, ask both manufacturers for a documented combination.

Before you buy

Send the manufacturer one complete question: “I have a 2025 Tacoma and bracket SKU ABC-123 from a 2022 Tacoma. Does that exact bracket fit the 2025 hood-hinge interface, and can I reuse my current pods and harness?”

If the answer names only “Tacoma” or relies on visual similarity, it is not a fitment confirmation. Use the generation-correct application instead.

Bottom line

For the current Cali Raised and Rough Country applications, third-generation and fourth-generation Tacoma ditch-light brackets are separate products. Do not slot, bend or force an older bracket to make it fit. Buy the bracket documented for your model year, then verify pods, wiring and nearby accessories as separate checks.

If you are unsure which year range your truck belongs to, start with the Tacoma generations and parts-fitment guide.
