NOT LISTED FOR A GAS TRD SPORT
Do not buy Toyota’s PTR60-35240 TRD front skid plate for a gas 2025 TRD Sport on the assumption that it fits. Toyota’s installation instructions limit the gas application to 2024+ TRD Off-Road models, while covering 2024+ Tacoma HV models separately. Toyota does not list it for a gas TRD Sport.
PTR60-35240 has a limited Toyota application
Toyota’s installation instructions for PTR60-35240 identify it as a front skid plate for MY24 Tacoma HV and newer models and MY24 Tacoma gas TRD Off-Road models only. The sheet supplies the vehicle-specific hardware and torque procedure. Its listed gas application does not include TRD Sport.
Toyota’s own front skid-plate product page describes the same part as a no-drill plate using existing attachment mounts, with cooling, maintenance-point and tow-hook access. Those design claims apply only on a truck Toyota lists for the part; they do not broaden the instruction sheet’s vehicle eligibility.
Why a visual match is not a fitment match
Gas TRD Sport is outside the cited instruction
The relevant boundary is trim and powertrain, not merely “2024+ Tacoma.” A gas 2025 TRD Sport is not named in the PTR60-35240 installation applicability. The answer for that exact configuration is not listed—not “probably fits.” Ask Toyota for a VIN-specific application or select a skid manufacturer that explicitly lists the gas 2025 TRD Sport.
Hybrid is a separate condition, not a shortcut
Toyota’s instructions separately include Tacoma HV models. That establishes an application for a 2024+ hybrid truck, but it does not transfer the hybrid approval to every gas trim. Confirm the powertrain before ordering and keep the instruction sheet with the part.
Front protection is not complete underbody coverage
Toyota’s 2024 Tacoma accessory brochure describes the TRD front skid as front underbody protection with maintenance and tow-hook access. It does not claim that the plate protects the transmission, catalytic converters, or every lower component. Evaluate those areas as separate product decisions with their own fitment listing.
Bottom line
PTR60-35240 is not listed for a gas 2025 TRD Sport. Toyota lists it for 2024+ hybrids and gas TRD Off-Roads as specified in its instructions. For a gas TRD Sport, stop until a VIN-specific Toyota application or an aftermarket manufacturer’s exact fitment listing says otherwise.
Once a product is listed for the exact truck, decide whether its front-only coverage solves the protection problem. See Tacoma Skid Plates: Which Areas Need Coverage, and Should You Choose Steel or Aluminum?.
