Does an MBRP 3-Inch Cat-Back Fit a 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport Double Cab?

FITS WITH CONDITIONS

High confidence · Last verified 5 Sep 2026

Yes for the listed 3.5L application—after configuration checks. MBRP lists S5340 variants for 2016–2023 3.5L Tacomas, but its own instructions say some models need front-pipe trimming and require a final full-length clearance inspection.

What is documented for this exhaust

MBRP's current Tacoma kit builder lists the S5340AL as a 3-inch cat-back for 2016–2023 Tacomas with the 3.5L engine. See MBRP's 2019 3.5L application. Toyota confirms that the 2019 Tacoma range included the 3.5L V6 and Double Cab short- and long-bed configurations. See Toyota's 2019 model information.

This is support for the listed engine/year application—not approval for an unknown engine, a different MBRP part number, or a truck with unverified aftermarket hardware.

Is cutting required?

The answer is possibly, so do not promise a no-cut job. MBRP's S5340 installation instructions say the factory tailpipe may need to be cut to clear the rear axle when a hoist or hydraulic lift is not used. They also say the replacement front pipe needs trimming on some models. Read the manufacturer installation instructions.

Those are installation contingencies, not evidence that every 2019 Double Cab needs the same cut. A qualified installer should first identify the exact kit, available lift/access and the truck's existing exhaust path.

Clearance is a safety check, not a cosmetic step

MBRP directs the installer to verify clearance to fuel lines, vent lines, brake lines, frame, bodywork, suspension and wiring, and to recheck clamp torque and clearance after 30–60 miles. Do not skip that inspection or rely on a video from a differently equipped Tacoma.

Bottom line

For a stock 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport with the 3.5L V6, the documented MBRP S5340 application is a reasonable candidate. Confirm the exact kit SKU and configuration first, plan for conditional trimming, and treat MBRP's clearance procedure as required installation work. For remote-idle and outlet-location safety, use the separate axle-dump exhaust and carbon-monoxide guide.
