What Else Do You Need to Install a Light Bar on a 2024+ Tacoma?

MATCH THE MOUNT AND COMPLETE THE ELECTRICAL PLAN

High confidence for the cited kits · Last verified 15 Oct 2026

A 2024+ Tacoma light bar needs an exact grille- or rack-specific mount, clearance for cameras and factory equipment, a complete harness/switch/connector plan, secure weather-protected routing, correct beam aim and compliance with the product's road-use limits. “Kit included” does not guarantee the switch or every electrical part is included.

Choose the mounting location before buying electrical parts

A grille bar and a roof-rack bar solve different mounting problems. The bracket must be made for the exact bar dimensions and vehicle interface.

Cali Raised's 32-inch Lo Pro grille kit is listed for 2024+ Tacoma and uses its own brackets. The product page says no modification is required, but it also says the kit is not compatible with the Limited grille. Trucks with a 360 camera are limited by the cited page to one bar. Review the exact grille kit.

The company's Premium Roof Rack front light-bar kit is a separate application. Cali Raised says it requires the Cali Raised Premium Roof Rack and does not fit other racks. Review the rack-specific kit.

Do not transfer a bracket between grille, bumper and rack locations because the bar length appears similar.

What factory equipment can change fitment?

Record the Tacoma's trim and inspect the intended mounting area for:

  • Limited versus other grille geometry;
  • front or 360-camera equipment and its field of view;
  • radar/sensor locations near a grille or bumper mount;
  • active grille shutters, cooling openings and service access;
  • the exact roof rack and wind-deflector/light-bar opening; and
  • hood, panel and fastener clearance through normal operation.

Only treat a factory system as retained when the exact mount documentation addresses it. One-bar approval on a camera-equipped truck does not prove a two-bar configuration.

Does an included harness mean the electrical system is complete?

No. Cali Raised says the 32-inch grille kit includes a wiring harness, but its optional OEM-style switch is not included; the cited page also identifies separate connectors for that switch. By contrast, its rack kit offers the wiring harness and switch as configuration options. The selected variant changes what arrives.

Before installation, inventory:

  • the exact light-bar voltage/current requirements;
  • the maker-specified harness, fuse and relay or compatible power controller;
  • switch type, connector and cabin pass-through method;
  • battery and ground connection points named by the instructions;
  • sufficient protected wire length for the chosen mount; and
  • sealed connectors and strain relief at exposed locations.

Do not increase a fuse, bypass a relay or substitute smaller wire to make an incomplete harness work. Use the lamp/harness instructions or a qualified automotive electrician.

How should the wiring be routed?

Follow the exact kit's routing path. Keep the harness away from exhaust heat, sharp metal, fan/belt movement, steering/suspension travel and pinch points. Protect every pass-through as the instructions require, secure slack and maintain access to serviceable fuses and connectors.

For a roof-mounted bar, the wire-entry method is part of the water-management decision. Do not drill the roof or door seal from a generic diagram. Use the rack/light maker's documented route and sealing method for the exact cab and rack.

Aim the beam before using it

The bar's beam pattern and mounting height change where light and glare go. Set initial aim using the light maker's instructions, then verify the final bracket remains tight and the beam does not obstruct the driver's view or reflect excessively from the hood.

Do not copy a ditch-light angle or headlamp procedure onto a roof or grille bar. Spot, combo, flood and dual-function bars have different intended coverage.

Can the light bar be used on public roads?

Do not assume so. Tacoma Lifestyle's current fourth-gen Rogue grille page describes its full light bar as off-road use and lists a harness and OEM-style button for the named product. Review the maker's stated use boundary.

Preserve any “off-road use only” instruction and check the rules where the truck is registered and driven. Lamp certification, mounting height, color, beam, covers and switching rules can differ. This guide does not convert an off-road lamp into a road-legal driving light.

Before you buy

Ask: “I have a [year/trim] Tacoma with this grille/rack and [front/360 camera]. Will this exact mount accept this bar and count without blocking factory equipment, and does the selected kit include the harness, fuse/relay, switch and connectors I need?”

Also ask for the current wiring diagram, aiming instructions and stated on-road/off-road use. If any of those belong to a separate component, add it to the installation plan before disassembly.

Bottom line

A complete 2024+ Tacoma light-bar installation is a matched mount + bar + factory-equipment + electrical-control system. Confirm grille/rack and camera fitment, inventory the harness/switch/connectors, route and protect wiring exactly as documented, aim the beam, and preserve every off-road or legal-use limit.

Before choosing a mount, use the Tacoma factory-options fitment checklist to inventory the grille, cameras, sensors and rack equipment that can change the answer.
